Remember Jamie Bulger?

He’s the little two year old who was lured away from a shopping mall and tortured, murdered and left on a railway track by two 10-year-old boys in England in 1993.

After reading E&Is post about a 16-year-old wanting to divorce her parents I remember reading about Jon Venables last week. Jon is one of the boys who killed Jamie. He was arrested on countless charges of child pornography this month and people are of course baying for his blood and wanting his new ID to be revealed so they can know who he is.

E&I asked what you have to do as a parent for your child to want to divorce you.

I want to know what you have to do to a child (and I’m now thinking of my own 2-and-a-half-year-old son) to make him do what Jon and Robert Thompson did? Bloody hell it’s depressingly sad and overwhelming.

I’m not the greatest, most structured, blah blah mom around but I seriously hope to not do whatever it is their parents did! Oh god, it’s too awful.

I find it scary how Jon was not rehabilitated… although they say the other boy was. It makes you wonder what is environment and what is genetics

I remember this story when it all happened but it didn’t really impact me until I had my own children. When they were released, Keegan was the age of Jamie when he was killed and I could quite happily understand why the public wanted them locked away for longer.I guess we can just hope, pray and guide our children as best we can and trust that they will become civilsed members of society and not the monsters these boys are and were!

I also remember the story, although at the time it didn’t have the impact as I wasn’t a mom. Looking back now, it absolutely breaks my heart to think that some animal could do that to my child! Yes, animal, because this is pure savage, and should not be called a human being! I also wonder what makes people turn out that way? Murderers, rapists, paedophiles. Some can blame it on a dodgy past, but what about kids?I’d also be baying for his blood! Shocking story!
